FAQ’s about my wedding film services. Reach out if I can answer any additional questions.
GLOSSARY OF TERMS
- RAW FOOTAGE: literally hundreds of video clips on a hard drive.
- FEATURE FILM: Edited “highlight” of your wedding.
- In 2025 these films averaged between 7-15 minutes. As the years tick on peoples attention spans shrink. You will see “feature films” on my website in the 7-30+ minute range. I will discuss your ideal target length during our zoom.
- DOCUMENTARY EDIT: This is a chronological documentary-style edit – no music montages, all natural sound. This collection is broken out into easy to navigate chapters (prep, full ceremony, cocktail hour, toasts, etc).
Q: WHAT IS RAW FOOTAGE – WILL WE GET THE RAW FOOTAGE?
Raw footage is literally hundreds of clips on a hard drive. This may include raw video and raw audio files.
I provide you with something better, a ‘Documentary Edit’ of everything we cover during your time frame. You will get your full ceremony, all formalities, prep, first look, cocktail hour, dancing and more. This is much easier than clicking through hundreds of unedited files on a hard drive.
WHAT’S INCLUDED?
1) A full ‘Documentary Edit’. This is a documentary-style collection broken out into easy to navigate chapters (prep, full ceremony, cocktail hour, toasts, etc).
2) A ‘Feature Film’ (like those on my website), which is perfect when you only have 10 minutes and want to relive the highlights.
3) Films are digitally delivered in a private online collection for you to share with family and friends.
The Documentary Edit is for when you want to snuggle up and relive every moment. If this is important to you, within a few days after your wedding, I can provide an edit of the full ceremony and key formalities. This allows those unable to make the trip to feel included in the celebration.

HOW MANY HOURS WILL YOU BE AT OUR WEDDING?
For single-day events, I recommend coverage starting 30 minutes before your first look or ceremony through the first hour of open dancing after formalities. This is typically 8 hours depending on if you have a first look. This could look like 1-9 pm or 2-10 pm, etc.
Multi-day events and weekend coverage is typically 10+ hours. I start with the ceremony rehearsal and continue through the first half-hour to hour of your welcome party. I love capturing all those hugs, reconnections and new connections before the wedding day.
HOW LONG WILL OUR FILM BE?
I take a documentary approach, using 95% spoken word and natural audio to retell your story.
Feature Films average 7-15+ minutes, depending on your preferences.
You will see longer films on my website. Attention spans keep getting shorter as the years go on, but I love showing how timeless the older films are.
A short highlight film from Martha’s Vineyard.
They received this in addition to a longer 15 minute feature film.
Below, a multi-day wedding at the brand new Mead Hill in Lancaster, New Hampshire. It’s located on the side of Mount Cabot and part of Mount Cabot Maple.
This feature film had so many great stories so it’s on the longer side. The “feel good film” of the 2025 season!
WHO PICKS THE MUSIC?
I do, selecting from licensed music libraries like Musicbed to keep everything legal. I take cues from the songs you’ve chosen for your wedding and use music to enhance the emotions in your film. Most of my music is instrumental since the films are story-driven through natural audio and vows.
DO YOU HAVE A DRONE?
Yes, I have an FAA-licensed drone pilot at every wedding. Whether we can fly depends on venue policies, airspace restrictions, and weather conditions.
WHAT ABOUT BACKUP GEAR AND PLANS:
I travel with backup equipment and have redundant systems for storing your footage. I always work with a second shooter, and we have backup colleagues available for absolute emergencies. In 20+ years of filming (knock on wood), I’ve never had to deploy the parachute!
WHAT IS YOUR TURN AROUND TIME?
I film and edit each wedding myself – I never outsource any part of the process. My contract allows up to 12 weeks, but I typically deliver within 6-8 weeks. During early or late season, you might even receive your film on your one-month anniversary!
Get your favorite movie snacks ready, your wedding film will be in your hands sooner than you think.
Here is a sample feature film at 12 minutes long. Fun fact – I filmed her sisters wedding at the Omni Mount Washington Hotel 17 years ago!
