French’s Point Maine Unplugged Wedding Film

Happy Anniversary Spring & Silas! Spring is a wedding photographer and the talent behind Spring Smith Studios. Last week I had to film her for a national syndicated news source. They are doing a feature on Unplugged Weddings and Spring’s enthusiasm for Unplugged Weddings has become quite the hot topic.  For this assignment I also had to film Spring and Silas watching their wedding film. It was fun to relive the day again as we talked about all the fun coincidences and moments that were documented on video… my discussion with them prompted this post.

Sometimes we get the opportunity to cover an event in it’s entirety… not just the wedding day and the rehearsal dinner but all the moments in-between. In Spring’s case some of these “in-between” moments were the most memorable. I was staying nearby in my Sportsmobile so I had the flexibility of capturing family dinner, doing night timelapse shots, peaking in on late night visits with her grandfather, the real early morning happenings, cozy interviews with the girls, catching KC practicing her toast, the sunrise and bald eagle taking flight… all of this and more would have been missed had I been in a hotel room, or just hired for a set amount of “time.” I have done other weddings with similar coverage. In one case staying at the florist/planners house, Kate Martin of Beautiful Days Events. I was able to give the couple a behind the scenes look at what went into their day from a design standpoint, and we were on location extra early to capture the brides father walking on the beach gathering thoughts for his toast. Depending on the scope of your event and what you are truly looking to have captured, don’t be afraid to ask what I would recommend as a solution if you would like this kind of “in-between” coverage.

For Spring’s wedding a childhood dream comes to life on the big screen at Fenway Park. Family from all over the globe join at French’s Point for this “unplugged” wedding and loving celebration. You will need a tissue as “Summer Nights” is a song by Spring’s dad’s band. It couldn’t have been more fitting for such a breath catching coastal Maine Wedding.
